Weathering a Storm

I am jittery as I write this. My hometown Chennai is in the news for all the bad reasons. For those of you who are living under a rock, this is one of Indian metropolitan cities. Wikipedia might be able to give more stats about the population and other stats.

New Year 2015 at Bangalore

It’s the end of another year and as is my tradition for past several years it is time to write a yearly write up. But then again, I was traveling around on new year’s eve and so wished to write a travelogue as well. Why not just club these together?

India’s Gift to the World

While some strive to achieve glory despite all their human limitations, some are bestowed talent so immense that the world simply cannot help but take notice. Then there are those rare few who are endowed with prowess beyond wildest imagination and yet somehow manage to stretch the limits by sheer hard work, perseverance and above all humility. They are whom I’ll call divine!

Road Safety and You

Accidents happen everyday, everywhere, all the time. Sometimes it may cause insignificant damage and sometimes it can be fatal. Isn’t this what all of us are taught? But somehow I feel we forgot to pen down the effects it may have on the onlookers. The shock wave that hits us the moment we realize what if it had been me or worse – my family?

Shame and Sensibility

It is not very common, that an incident, no matter how untoward, draws unanimous flak from an entire nation. There was the exceptional scenario of India against corruption several months ago. This was not just one single demonstration but rather a wave of protests, undertaken for seeing a very positive transformation in our country. It was a welcome change from our lethargic selves. I can sense a similar large scale protest happening; this time at the heart of India, sadly, for a reason which we all would have wished never happened in the first place.

Road to Freedom

Long ago, when the world was chaotic, at a time, when no one knew the meaning of peace, when everything was gloomy, God decided to create a fine feathery creature; perhaps the last ray of light to rid the world of it’s dark times!

God then told the world this was one of the finest creations; that it was meant to change the world! When everyone came to know of this they thronged to see what special power this tiny creation of God can hold and realized soon that it had none at all. Surely it would perish in a world that was not meant for those with a tender heart.

The Cup that Matters

I read the score card wondering if the fool’s day had come in a bit late! It was probably my hallucination – after all I wanted it so selfishly for the past few weeks now. It never sank in really that the day has come to pass when we can call ourselves “world champions” at last!

I couldn’t sleep for another hour or two just imagining the “madness” that would have followed suite. I must have re-read the scorecard at least a few dozen times feeling emphatic, hysterical, elated, ecstatic and – very much disappointed! Am I missing India at the moment! From behind the veils of the “Great Wall” and the limited freedom of “legal” internet that I have come to restrain myself to, all I could do was just take a sneak peek at the score every few minutes.

Behind the Great Wall

It is now two weeks since I left the sanctity of my home and decided to pursue something new. The plan was on for almost two to three months but I admit the final set of events was triggered at an alarming pace! It was on a Wednesday that I was driving my vehicle to a very familiar work place, in the blissful December weather of Chennai, set to do tasks that I had grown comfortable to and chat with friends who are really close to me; and by the very next day I was told to be prepared to change it all quite soon and come Friday I was all set to travel!

A Visit to Pulicat Lake

We managed to visit the lake in Pulicat – famous for our fine feathered friends. We might have been a wee bit early, for their peak season is not supposed to be till end of this month. But we did go nonetheless, with a quick halt at the entrance of Sriharikota Space Station and a leisurely visit to Nelapattu Bird Sanctuary.
