Meet The Statesmen

R: “Who wrote the National Poem and National Anthem?
P1 (Beaming; with the intensity of a 4 year old having solved a 12th standard math paper!): “Is this a trick question or what? Both are same!
P2: “That poem was actually done by several poets. Anthem… I don’t know.

Anyone who caught a glimpse of that small (8-10 minutes) video in Headlines Today news channel on Independence Day will understand what I am talking about.

I think they decided to quiz our beloved Rajya Sabha members about some really difficult and intimidating questions related to rocket science (read ‘our’ history). Now I can’t conjure words to describe the feelings of the journalist who had the guts to take on such an impetuous task!

Terrorism

The word sums it all up, I guess. An unfortunate and unforeseen force, created by the arms race; there is no stopping it now for it spreads its stink all directions. A modern day terrorist need not be a bearded man with Arab clothing and a Kalashnikov. Of course such silhouettes still exist, but like any group with extreme intentions they are learning the act of survival.

You meet Sam at the XY airport – a guy who looks handsome, intelligent, well learned, and well mannered and most importantly can look straight into your eyes while striking a conversation. He has to board his plane and departs in haste and quickly blows the plane to smithereens!

Cinema

Stardom, fanaticism, craze, sleaze, fame, glory, conspiracies, gossips, limelight – a mix of all these; Cinema is all about it.

People get easily affected by what they hear and what they see. To a lot of people to see, is to believe. Imagine what would happen when a deadly mix of sight, sound and act get together. It could take you to new heights; make you visualize things which you can hardly ever dream of; things which are fantastic, to things which are mundane.

Of Birth And Death

Human beings are such strange little creatures. They are so very easily cheated by the twin phenomenon of birth and death. They laugh and celebrate birth, cry and despise death. They feel so very safe in their tiny little shelters which they call as their home.

And they try to live a journey in between the cunning twin siblings – a journey which they so affectionately coin as life; a life which they manage to clutter, with morals, values and relationships.

And they are so very confident that these set of moral rules will lead them to the immortal hand which has forged them. Ha! I really don’t think the so called god would have had the same thing in mind when these humans were pushed down from heaven or whichever higher altar it may be.

What Is Normal?

I was just wondering if we have been taught to follow what is normal. I wonder who sets the rules. Who tells us what is good/ bad, correct/ incorrect, normal/ abnormal?

The problem is, at that age when we are taught all this, we don’t even have the option of raising a doubt. Either we are too afraid or we don’t even know what it means to raise our voice. We are just taught to impress others by doing the same things that everyone “normally” does. Anything contradictory will mean

  1. You are a revolutionist – a pain in the ass for our parents.
  2. You are a born idiot – looked down like a worm by other kids.

And fear is instilled to us, even as they teach us not to be afraid of anything. Our creativity is not encouraged if it is contrary to the “general human” norms. Lets take a small example, shall we:

Pointless Ponderings

The world is a dot. That’s right, you heard me. It is a dot. How big a dot? Well probably as big (or as small) as this one.

In all probability even smaller. There is no guessing how much.

When the world comes to a dot what are we? We are naught! Yup nothing more than nothingness, just a mere dot’s distance from fading away. Fading away into oblivion, waiting to be nothing more than anything and no more than nothing.

Policing

Just considering the reactions of the Indian government during “certain” recent protests… I thought we are a Democracy! As long as our actions are within limits and not intended to harm anyone physically, I don’t see any reason why we should be policed (hope meaning is evident) in anyway!

Of Marriages And Weddings

Ya both are same… almost. In fact, this is what Wikitionary has to say about the same:

Old Caste System – My Take

Evening was nearing and everything was silent in the Gurukul again.

Everything except the mind of one of the Sishyas. Realizing the imbalance in the atmosphere, the great Guru summoned his pupil and asked him what troubled his mind.

Oh Guru! The books of knowledge teach us that God exists everywhere – in land, sea, people, animals and all. The books of knowledge preach that God is equal in all, for the lord doesn’t know to distinguish amongst his subjects.
Yet the same books of knowledge tell us that the:

Indian Cinema

I was just going through some really amazing videos of a certain Indian cine star in YouTube and I couldn’t help wondering if the heroes and directors ever get to watch their own film before its release? If at all they do, either they have cruel hearts or empty minds. It so happens that some of the so called action film run to 100 days of success because of it being treated as a comedy film!
