Finful Cravings

You know sometimes I wonder what we were doing just before being born on this planet. I believe every creature has the same god and I guess we were all chit-chatting with god just before being born in here.

What were we talking about? I guess god would have asked us, so what do you want to be this time? And guess what would I have replied?

“Me, I want to be a fish!”

Other Side Of The Coin

In the midst of the rising mountains and bountiful rivers of the beautiful Komalu region, Shigaru was an eyesore. With no more than a few hundred people residing in its rupturing lands, it was miles away from the much fantasized beauty of its neighboring regions. The river beds had dried up ages before, thanks to exploitation by its neighbors; the fields were cracking up and the land looked like a desert while the afternoon sun blazed. The cattle and poultry were dying and if proper amenities did not reach within a year, so will the people.

Living amidst the catastrophe was the family of Chunni Rajan; not a small family by any means. Rajan and his wife Shanthana had three girls and one son – all malnourished. He lost his aging father and his youngest son within a few months gap when an epidemic had stuck the town (about three months back). His wife who was expecting another child was also taken seriously ill and her unborn child was not expected to see the next sunrise. In fact, she was having her pains and the child was expected soon.

He knew he would be hunted down one way or another in case he survived. He just wanted to see those who caused so much suffering to his fellowmen, suffer in return; he wanted to see those men, who ruined his land, to die.

The Road Less Taken

So you are really planning to take that exam?” Raghu was almost distraught about his friend Ramanan’s decision.

Huh yeah. Now please don’t keep staring at me like that!” Ramanan was trying to recollect the last few chapters in the course which he had prepared in a lot of hurry.

Sure of course I won’t! Who am I just another servant for great people like you.” The sarcasm in Raghu’s voice was inescapable.

Karma?

What is your problem with fire?” asked Shyam.

Nothing man, really!” Guna tried to lie to his friend.

Cut the crap, will you? Anyone could notice you were not so very comfortable during the festival.” said Shyam referring to the Bhogi which was a day back.

Okay. I’ll tell you, but promise me you won’t ever blurt it to anyone else. Will you?
It really didn’t take Shyam a long time to coax his friend out of his so called secrets. Most of them were just silly to the point of being stupid.
