He heard footsteps in distance. The trial was over.
It was nearly dawn. His country would wake up to a beautiful morning – traded with the blood of his young platoon.
‘It had to be here somewhere! The alarm clock… Strangely it was just giving a humming noise; it must be broken!‘
I woke up a bit dizzy. ‘This isn’t my bedroom… What’s with the stink?!’
‘Who are those kids and why are they behind bars? They don’t seem very sad.‘ It was then that the ‘aaha moment‘ hit me.
I looked down on myself and noticed the transformation. ‘I am monkey in a zoo! A shiver went down my spine – or whatever it is that a monkey has.‘
(more…)Long ago, when the world was chaotic, at a time, when no one knew the meaning of peace, when everything was gloomy, God decided to create a fine feathery creature; perhaps the last ray of light to rid the world of it’s dark times!
God then told the world this was one of the finest creations; that it was meant to change the world! When everyone came to know of this they thronged to see what special power this tiny creation of God can hold and realized soon that it had none at all. Surely it would perish in a world that was not meant for those with a tender heart.
(more…)The Sun sets in the West – that’s what we’ve been told; or made to believe rather. Well, it’s certainly not the case here. I know it may sound stupid. But this place, wherever it is, never seems to go dark, something that I can only feel, for I seem to have lost the power of my sight; strange though it may seem, I can feel the warmth of the light. Anyway, I’ve always believed it’s all just relative – this light & dark business. You might conclude that I am lying; that would be a hasty decision. You haven’t seen, ahem, gone through what I’ve experienced here!

It was one of the worst ever days in his life. In fact the past few weeks had been getting unbearable, to say the least. Born an orphan in a small village, he was certainly not one of the well known face to this world. He was in fact just a rag-picker, a street dog, leading not the kind of life that any of us would be familiar with!
If you can come to terms with your spirits being dogged down since tender ages (thanks to being homeless), your body complaining and tired (thanks to the daily meal of rotten food) and your mind having no reason to wake up (thanks to being jobless) then probably you’d get close enough to his feelings.
(more…)The town’s biggest (haughtiest) business man decided to pay a visit to the houses of the less fortunate.
On one such occasion, he visited the shed of old Jose who was the local coffin maker. For no good reason he decided to ridicule the old man’s job and joked out loud to those near him.
“Ah, here’s a profession that always needs an out-of-the-box thinking! You must be thanking god for putting you in this one Jose!”
A few around, realizing the jab and laughed out loud while others did the same mostly to impress the big man.
